The first pie chart represents a company's expenditures, and the second pie chart shows a breakdown of the company's advertising expenditures. What percent of the company's expenditures is spent on radio advertising?

A. 6.3%
B. 11.7%
C. 18.0%

Posted - 04/19/2007 : 19:36:27 Mental math approach: 35% of the total is used in ad, 18% of ad is used in radio. Therefore, 18% of 35% of the total is used in radio ad. |

r = Radio expenditure = 18% of (ad expenditure) = 0.18 * a .....(1)
a = ad expenditure = 35% of (total expenditure) = 0.35 * t .....(2)
using (2) in (1)
r = 0.18 * a = 0.18 * 0.35 * t = 0.063 * t
