I need to find a material resource that will tell me what formula I should use to solve an algebra problem. I have memorized many fomulas, but don't know WHEN to apply them. When I have an algebra problem, I don't know what formula to use to solve it. I hope I'm making myself clear :)

I suppose that is what most people find difficult about algebra.
You have to know the "type" of equation you are trying to solve. There are many different types.
Hopefully you can solve a linear equation with no problem.
Moving on to quadratic equations...
You do know about the quadratic formula?
Maybe this is where you began wondering about "formulas" for other types of equations......?
Well, it gets complicated when trying to use a formula for a cubic equation....
Now, for higher order equations, there are "techniques" you can use. Graphing works well. Have you solved equations by using the graphing techniqe?
Of course, you still need to worry about "imaginary" and "complex" solutions.
What I am trying to say is that trying to solve all math problems can not be pinned down to just specific formulas.
Hopefully someone else here can post a better explanation.
